our story

Reside Studio was born out of a shared passion for thoughtful design, precision fabrication, and the belief that beautifully crafted furniture should feel both personal and purposeful.

In February 2025, Rudy joined forces with Nick at Jo-Lu Studio, a 12,000-square-foot creative workshop known for its expert CNC fabrication, custom build capabilities, and design-forward approach to spaces and objects.

Rudy arrived with an idea: a company focused on elegantly simple plywood furniture that could enhance everyday living. Nick, whose journey spans 15+ years as a designer, fabricator and entrepreneur trained at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the founder and lead instigator of Jo-Lu Studio, didn’t just support the vision, he saw a way to help make it real.

Over the summer of 2025, that shared ambition became Reside Studio

Today, Reside Studio bridges design and fabrication. We draw on rugged workshop expertise and a designer’s eye to craft furniture that’s functional, beautiful, and built to last. Every piece reflects our commitment to material honesty, precision production, and thoughtful form,grounded in the realities of how people live.

Whether it starts as a sketch on paper or a prototype on the CNC, Reside Studio brings meaningful design into your everyday life.

our materials

Baltic Birch Plywood

Plywood is an outstanding material. Brilliantly engineered, beautiful and functional.

Almost every plywood product consists of an odd number of wood veneers cross laminated to create a sheet of stable material.

Rotating the grain of the veneer 90° each layer creates an ultra stable material that does not warp, bend or cup when exposed to varying temperatures or humidities

Plywood comes in flat sheets of various thicknesses and sizes. This format makes it extremely convenient to machine on a 3-axis CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine.

Baltic Birch plywood is some of the highest quality plywood used by furniture and cabinet makers. Baltic birch consists of 11-13 layers of material making it extremely stable and creating an attractive edge profile

Our hinges, bolts, and shelf pins are industrial grade, built for stability, longevity, and a premium feel in every interaction. Because the smallest details are often what you notice most, we never compromise on them.

It's one of the many ways Reside sets itself apart.

PLA Plastic

We use PLA plastic to manufacture what we call our moon connectors which receive the bolts and create an ultra strong connection.

PLA plastic is a a biodegradable, thermoplastic polyester derived from renewable, plant-based resources, most commonly fermented plant starch from corn, cassava, sugarcane, or sugar beet pulp.
